What KHQR is and how it works

KHQR is Cambodia's national QR payment standard, letting any supporting banking app scan a single code to pay.

The basic idea

Before KHQR, each bank had its own QR code, which meant a buyer needed an app that matched the seller's bank. KHQR lets one code accept payment from many banks.

It runs on the Bakong system, operated by the National Bank of Cambodia.

Using it when buying online

At checkout you are shown a QR code. Open your banking app, choose the scan function, and scan it. The app shows you the recipient name and the amount before you confirm.

Check the amount and the recipient name carefully before confirming. Once confirmed, the transfer cannot be reversed by you.

Riel or dollars

KHQR supports both KHR and USD. At checkout you see the currency and the exact amount before confirming.
